The Preventive Controls for Human Food course is intended to ensure safe manufacturing/processing, packing and holding of food products for consumption in the United States. The regulation requires that certain activities must be completed by a “preventive controls qualified individual” who has “successfully completed training in the development and application of risk-based preventive controls, or is otherwise qualified through job experience to develop and apply a food safety system.” This course developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA) is the “standardized curriculum” recognized by FDA; successfully completing this course is one way to meet the requirements for a “preventive controls qualified individual.”
Who Should Attend?
The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Final Rule for Preventive Controls for Human Foods requires that each facility have a written food safety plan and a hazard analysis that were prepared by a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI). This course provides training and a certificate in order to meet the requirements for an individual being recognized as a PCQI.
