Communications & Marketing Internship

The Northern Crops Institute (NCI) is seeking a Communications & Marketing Intern. The intern will assist professional team members with marketing and communication tasks, educational programming, and may work independently on assigned office projects. Interns will gain experience with marketing and communications, educational programming, technology used for learning delivery, event planning, project management, and customer service. The position will provide approximately 10 - 20 hours of work per week during the academic year with the possibility of extending the internship into the summer. Some travel may be required.


Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain NCI’s social media presence.

  • Update and maintain NCI’s website.

  • Assist with photography and videography.

  • Assist in designing promotional and educational materials.

  • Assist in planning, writing, and managing NCI blog posts, news releases, and social media copy.

  • Assist Program Managers with educational courses.

  • Support the Communications & Marketing Specialists with daily administrative tasks.

  • Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and avenues for marketing and communications.


minimum qualifications

  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

  • Works well in a dynamic, changing, and team-oriented environment.

  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts. 

  • Candidates must be digitally savvy and connected on multiple social media platforms.

  • Knowledgeable in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office.

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university and completed at least freshman year.

  • Ideal candidates should be working towards a degree in one of the following areas: Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related majors.
