About the Speaker.

Dr. García works for DELLAIT as Livestock Nutritionist and Management Consultant. He led Dairy Extension and was Director of Agriculture and Natural Resources with South Dakota State University and consulted with the USDA as member of the Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee. He is member of the Honor Society for Agriculture and received several awards such as the Gamma Sigma Delta Award, F.O. Butler Award, U.S. Government Presidential Service Award, and SDSU Dean and Director's Award for Exceptional Leadership. He consults with the US Grain Council on cereal grains and coproducts quality and marketing.

With a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, he has worked with farmers on ruminant production systems throughout his career. He also obtained a MS and PhD both from the University of Minnesota funded through scholarships from Partners of the Americas, the Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Development Bank. His research mainly focuses on feed quality, preservation, and utilization by cattle. He has more than 600 contributions as guest speaker, extension articles, scientific publications, and three book chapters.

Dr. García has extensive experience in dairy farm systems, management practices, feed preservation and quality, ration formulation, trace mineral supplementation, feedstuff economics, and applied research.
