Summer 2021 Recap with our Communications & Marketing Interns
This year, it feels like summer has flown by in the blink of an eye. At NCI, these warm months are our busiest time of the year, and it always helps to have a few extra hands around. Every year, NCI brings on Summer Interns, with some of this year's crew being made up of two Communications & Marketing Interns. With summer coming to a close, it’s fun to look back on everything we’ve got to work on in the last couple months!
The new Communications & Marketing interns, Paige and Liz, got right to work when they started back in May. During their first couple weeks, they got to be a part of multiple tours and video shoots. While they traveled to nearby businesses and farms, they also got to see what it’s like to be a part of video tours right here in NCIs building. Mark Fowler, from US Wheat Associates, came to NCI to talk about Milling, and our team got to be a part of all the action.
When they weren’t busy doing shoots or events, our Communications & Marketing Interns were busy behind the scenes. They ran webinars, wrote blog posts, sent press releases, kept participants up to date with course information, edited the website, posted on social media, and were two constant friendly faces around the office. They got to be a key part of the things that happen here at NCI.
One of the biggest events that happened this summer for our NCI staff was a trip out to Montana. Eight staff, two of which were Communications & Marketing interns, left four four days to head out west. While there, they got to tour breweries, farms, labs, and more. Their schedules were jam-packed with video interviews and tours, and they documented all their adventures on social media along the way. If you want to read more about all the things that the NCI team got to see in Montana, read our blog post here.
Between all their trips and day-to-day work, our two interns also went out to local farms to gather photo and video footage of crops in our area. They were able to photograph wheat, barley, soybeans, oats, flax, and more. Our team got to see firsthand what the crops in our four-state region looked like this season.
With summer coming to a close, it’s sadly time to say goodbye to some of our interns as well. Paige will be heading off to finish her last semester at MSUM where she will graduate with her Advertising degree. Luckily, Liz will be staying around part-time this upcoming semester as she also finishes up some of her last courses at NDSU. This year has been a fun-packed summer for our interns, who got to be an essential part of NCIs team. We can’t wait to see what next year brings on!
