NCI Market Update Webinar Series | Featuring Mike Krueger
The Northern Crops Institute (NCI) held its newest installment of the Market Update webinar series on Wednesday, October 20th. This episode featured Mike Krueger, a cash grain trader, market advisor, commodities broker, and founder of MoneyFarm.
During the webinar, Mike discussed outlooks for corn, soybeans, and wheat. His presentation included a variety of essential information revolving around all three crops and the topics of exports and imports, prices, supply and demand, acreage and planting, livestock, biofuels, and more. He included detailed graphs and visuals depicting market data and this year's outlooks in comparison to years prior. As the market continues to change, monthly Market Updates including the knowledge of speakers like Mike are essential in learning the most up-to-date information about outlooks for this year.
In his presentation, Mike discussed the World Supplies of both wheat and corn and how they continue to tighten. Demand continues to increase for these major commodities and doesn’t seem to be slowing down for anything. Mike also brought up how the weather in South America is in a critical state. The La Nina can make it so that Argentina and Brazil will have a dryer growing season. This would cancel out the predictions of having record crops. Another big aspect that Krueger brought up was the acreage competition in 2022. Minor crop prices are at a record high. It shows that in 2022 it’s going to be difficult to see an increase in traditional soybean, wheat, and corn. Mike was quick to remind participants that there is no future for these minor crops. These are strictly cash market crops. Mike left participants with the fact that volatility will continue.
These market updates were created to engage with past and present course participants and to offer market insight to those professionals. By providing this pertinent information on various topics, NCI has fostered growth and learning all around the world. NCI greatly appreciates contributions from speakers like Mike Krueger during these Market Update webinars.
