NCI Market Update | Frayne Olson, Ph.D.
The Northern Crops Institute (NCI) recently held the second Market Update in a continuing series to serve past course participants. As NCI looks to find innovative ways to fulfill their mission, providing pertinent information to past course participants was a new opportunity to do just that. The webinar series was created to engage with past course participants, and offer market insights to those professionals.
During the hour-long market update, participants were able to listen in and gain new insights on the corn, soybean, and wheat markets. Frayne Olson, Ph.D. , Crop Economist/Marketing Specialist with the North Dakota State University Extension and Director of the Quentin Burdick Center for Cooperatives, gave participants valuable insight on crop outlook and price analysis, and answered questions about grain markets. His expertise gave participants relevant information, while fostering questions and discussions. Here is what he had to say about the Market Update,
“The online market updates provide a good opportunity to stay in touch with the NCI program participants. Although it is not as nice as meeting in person, it allows everyone to stay connected and remain current on rapidly changing market conditions. Accurate information is critical for making good crop marketing decisions. These market updates allow participants to interact with a variety of professionals and hear different perspectives and viewpoints.” During the course of the webinar Olson discussed current events impact on markets, crop conditions, and trends. This knowledge is new insight that participants can put to work for themselves.
As mentioned before, this was the second webinar in an ongoing series designed to connect with NCI’s past course participants. All past course participants are invited to attend these updates and learn more about ag markets. NCI strives to connect with past course participants, as well as support regional agriculture and value-added processing. By hosting market updates and continuing to provide new information, these webinars have and will support the mission to expand and maintain domestic and international markets for northern grown crops. They look forward to hosing more market updates and connecting with past course participants in the future.
