NCI Video Production | May 2023 Update

What an exciting month for video production. By the numbers, there have been 14 videos produced thus far in May with several shooting days as well. These are some impressive stats as the video production continues to grow in both quantity and quality. Read on for details.


NCI Pasta Course Filming:

The NCI comm team geared up with the photo and video equipment to shoot during several lab demonstrations at NCI’s Pasta Production and Technology course. From the video side, the crew was focused on obtaining as many shots of the pasta extruder and pasta-making. These clips will be utilized in future NCI videos including an updated pasta-making video.

Other shoots included quality control testing in a lab demo and some interactive presentations. The pasta course is a staff favorite with plenty of excitement to capture on camera.

Sourdough Baking Update:

The ongoing sourdough baking project nears completion, with the final bakery tour video from SEYLOU Bakery and Mill in Washington, D.C. nearing completion. Now that those are wrapping up, a few more videos for the sourdough course have been added.

The total presentation videos edited for the sourdough course sits at six thus far with at least one more on the way. The workload is relatively low, but a little editing goes a long way in creating a polished lecture video. Most presenters record their lectures via Zoom. The editing required to clean up the look includes trimming any dead time or technical difficulties, rearranging the composition of the powerpoint and speaker cam, or enhancing the audio.

What to Expect Next:

NCI photographer Kari Schiefelbein snaps some pictures of the new Peltier Complex to be used in a soon-to-be released video of the new building.

As you may know, there is a new NCI taking shape. The Peltier Complex is on track for completion in 2024. This summer is a critical time for ensuring that the build continues to meet the scheduled deadlines.

To commemorate this, NCI is working to produce a short video to share with the world the excitement and progress of the new building. Stay tuned for this in the near future.
