NCI Video Production | September Update

Happy fall, y’all. The new season brings new video projects on board for NCI’s video production crew. This month wheat happened to be the lucky, most popular commodity for the cameras. HRS wheat harvest filming in North Dakota kicked off the month, and the annual MN Wheat September Marketing Seminar rounded it out. Read on for more.

All About Wheat:

On August 31, the NCI comm team got the call that wheat harvest was in full swing in Aneta, ND. With all the equipment and batteries charged up, filming was good to go by that afternoon. Scott Huso of Ridgeline Farms in Aneta was the host. The entire afternoon was spent riding in the combines, grain carts, and trucks with the Huso family to capture all the angles of this year’s wheat harvest.

The weather was also perfect for capturing some drone shots of the harvest. For a preview of some of the footage, check out the short video featured below.

The comm team member out on the shoot, Kari Schiefelbein, had the opportunity to stay for a “harvest meal,” which consisted of a boxed dinner from the local cafe in Aneta—one for each of the working crew. It was a great way to conclude a long harvest filming day.

The second wheat-related video work occurred on September 14 when NCI assisted with the video portion of MN Wheat’s Marketing Seminar. The webinar was held live from the NCI auditorium. Behind the scenes there, comm team members Kali Berlinger and Kari Schiefelbein were busy making sure everything went smoothly.

Kali controlled the webinar Zoom and recorded the session. Kari managed the video connection as well as recorded the speaker audio for crystal clear audio for the post-production videos. When completed, the final videos will be state-of-the-art quality with high-resolution powerpoint images, video, and clear audio all synced together.

The completed videos will be featured on MN Wheat’s YouTube Channel here:

Next 5 Years Conference:

On Monday, September 12, NCI hosted the first ever “Next 5 Years Executive Conference.” The event went over smoothly with positive reviews. A great event also requires great video needs, and, as it turns out, a lot of audio needs as well.

This blog post could be accurately titled “September Video and Audio Update” as well. The comm team utilized NCI’s own A/V equipment to pull off the conference at the Armory Event Center in Moorhead, MN.

Welcome to the N5Y conference! Here’s a little behind-the-scenes where the NCI video crew likes to hang out.

The day began for the comm team at 7:00 a.m. setting up at the Armory. All the wireless microphones were tested with the signal receiver and venue speaker system. With only minor hiccups that were easily resolved, a clear-sounding audio feed was attained. The NCI comm team was able to also record this clear audio feed for use in the final video production.

As for the camera setup for the day, two back cameras were plugged in and ready to record. Filmning went perfectly, and those speaker recordings will be used in the post-production final videos from the day.

Check back next month for an update on the Next 5 Years videos post-production process. For more information regarding the recent Next 5 Years Executive Conference, visit the website link here: https://next5years.com/

Course Video:

NCI’s longest-running course, Grain Procurement, consumed a majority of this past month’s video time. The week-and-a-half long course presentations were all recorded in the hopes to transform this course into an online format.

This process is similar to that from the conference and the MN Wheat recording. It entails capturing a clear audio feed, a video feed of the presenter, and a recording of the powerpoint lecture on screen. These three pieces are synced together in post-production to create the finished product.

NCI also wrapped up its INTSOY course. Watch a recap video that was created for this year’s INTSOY: https://youtu.be/pkhy8ZzUiFg

The course list never stops, and the comm team will undoubtedly find a role in each of them. For a list of upcoming courses, visit our website here: https://www.northern-crops.com/courses
