Peltier Complex Official Groundbreaking Ceremony

The Northern Crops Institute was pleased to attend the official groundbreaking and naming ceremony of the Peltier Complex, a state-of-the-art agricultural product development center, on Friday, November 19th.

The ceremony was held at NDSU in the Wallman Wellness Center and featured several speakers. The event speakers included; NDSU President Dean L. Bresciani; Governor Doug Burgum; State Senator Rich Wardner; State Senator Ronald Sorvaag; Greg Lardy, NDSU vice president for agricultural affairs; Mark Jirik, Northern Crops Institute director; Keith Peltier; Eric Berg, NDSU professor of animal science; and Ana Magallanes Lopez, doctoral graduate research assistant.

Each speaker shared the role they played in the creation of the Peltier complex, which included supporting bills for approval, fundraising, advocating, and more. In the end, it was a team effort that brought us to the official groundbreaking of this state-of-the-art building. The Peltier Complex will join NDSU’s food science, meat science, and cereal science labs along with the Northern Crops Institute.

After the speakers, attendees were welcome to see the official groundbreaking outside. Each speaker took part in the groundbreaking and was sent home with a souvenir shovel. Construction for the Peltier Complex will begin in the spring of 2022.
