Contracting for Value Workshop

Northern Crops Institute is hosting a Contracting for Value Workshop this week for five grain buyers from Morocco, United Arab Emirates, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They are sponsored by U.S. Wheat Associates (USW). Steve Wirsching, Director of the USW West Coast Office, and Ian Flagg, USW Regional Director of the Middle Eastern, East and North African Region, are also attending. In addition to a U.S. wheat market overview, the team will discuss inland logistics and world and U.S. wheat supply and demand; learn more about analytical and functional tests for flour and dough quality; do end-product evaluation; and discuss purchase quality specifications. They will visit the Agassiz Valley Grain Elevator at Barnesville, Minn., and the Jay Nord family farm near Wolverton, Minn. On Thursday, they will travel to Portland, Ore., to meet with grain experts and tour the Federal Grain Inspection Service and the Columbia Grain Export Grain Terminal.
