Increasing profitability for farmers and feed producers is the goal of the “Seed to Feed” project by Genesis Feed Technologies (GFT). The ongoing campaign explores the challenges and opportunities of commodity supply chains and provides a platform for innovative solutions.

The Northern Crops Institute (NCI) is one of nine industry and technology partners working in collaboration on this project.  NCI’s four-part Seed to Feed video and blog series kicked off last Wednesday, highlighting some of NCI’s involvements in the partnership.

This week, in Part Two, NCI Director Mark Jirik and GFT Co-Founder Peter Schott take a more in-depth look at the supply chain and how this campaign will educate people on what’s happening and what kind of work is being done in this area.

Hear also about the importance of making connections between the farmer growing crops and the farmer raising the animals that will eat the feed to increase quality.  By understanding each other’s needs and how they can serve one another, this comradery eases the positive opportunities along the supply chain.

NCI Director Mark Jirik and GFT Co-Founder Peter Schott dive into the Seed to Feed campaign’s mission of spotlighting the challenges and opportunities of the commodity supply chain and providing innovative solutions that benefit the entire chain, all the way back to the farmer.

GFT and the Seed to Feed campaign is utilizing these ideas to grow and drive exports of U.S. commodities.  NCI’s support of this mission is evident in its own mission of promoting the crops of the northern region to expand domestic and international markets.

Come back next week Wednesday for the release of Part Three of NCI’s Seed to Feed series.  You will not want to miss Peter and Mark’s discussion on the many benefits of NCI’s educational courses and technical services and how these areas have been enhanced and adapted over the recent years due to the pandemic.
