NCI Video Production | Mar. 2023 Update
March has been an exciting month for video production. NCI is happy to announce the addition of a video intern to the team: Seth Hansen. Read on to learn about Seth as well as this past month’s recap, full of video shoots and lots of editing that follows.
All About Seth:
After an impressive interview, MSUM student Seth Hansen was offered the Video Production internship at NCI. Seth happily accepted and has been excelling in his first month on the job. He is a third-year student majoring in film production. What most excites Seth about this internship is the real-world experience he will gain attending shoots and editing in the corporate setting.
Seth has already completed nine videos for the NCI in his first month. He was tasked with putting together final videos from MN Wheat’s Best of the Best conference held in Moorhead, MN, this January.
Best of the Best Editing:
The Best of the Best Conference featured many speakers, nine of which were recorded and post-produced into professional videos. Seth added his own creative flair to the videos, so these may look a bit different than previous MN Wheat videos. This is fitting, as the Best of the Best Conference was held in conjunction with MN Wheat and various other commodity groups.
Speakers with recordings include Andrew Friskop, Anna Cates, Barney Geddes, Dean Malvik, Debalin Sarangi, Frayne Olson, Lindsay Pease, Maykon Junior da Silva, and Robert Koch. Many of these are recurring names on the NCI video production list.

NCI Feedmill Filming:
The NCI video crew has been extremely busy making multiple stops at the NCI feedmill location. Shooting began the week of March 6th, featuring NCI Feedmill Manager, Shane Mueller. Shane gave a basic explanation of the equipment found at the NCI feedmill that would also be commonly found at other commercial feedmills.
Filming kicked off on the main level of the feedmill taking a look at the Roller Grinder and the Hammermill. The next day covered an explanation and demonstration of multiple pieces of equipment in the Quality Assurance lab.
Rounding out week one, Shane demonstrated how to operate the computerized mills from the control room as well as a look at the pellet mill and the bagging and receiving processes. This shoot continued into the next week in order to get footage of the equipment in action. This shoot is still ongoing, but the many videos will begin the editing phase soon.
Sourdough Baking Update:
If you’ve been following the video blog, the largest ongoing video project of 2023 has been and continues to be the sourdough baking videos. This month, the video from the Breadico bakery in Sioux Falls nears completion. This video features a tour of the bakery and interview with owner David Napolitano.
Next up on the list is the video from Fargo’s home bakery, Sourhouse. Owner Loni Larson got behind the camera for a tour of her home bakery and talked about the story of starting her own sourdough baking business. Stay tuned for more updates on the production of this exciting story.
